Cards 4 Cancer

Spirit Jump is on a mission to get cards delivered to cancer patients around the world on April 10, 2010. The cards can be store bought or handmade, and have an uplifting message to "jump the spirit" of those battling cancer. Join a team or become a team leader and start your own! Please visit the Cards 4 Cancer blog for more information.

I also encourage you to become a jumper for Spirit Jump. It's a simple thing to do and can mean a world of difference to someone. No one should battle cancer alone.

Advent Calendar

It's finally listed in the Two Kazoos shop! I'm really mad at the crappy pictures, had to use the "old" camera (the one we bought in 2002 at twice the price for half as much as our current camera offers, well, no longer offers, see previous post).

This is the only one available for this year.

Shane, Shame and The Same

Shane
Last week we took a quick road trip down to Austin, mainly to see The Pogues at Stubb's BBQ. All I can say is wow. So glad we didn't miss that. It's so rare that The Pogues are this far into the US, in fact, it had been 20 years since they'd been to Austin. I personally just wanted to set my peepers on Mr. Shane MacGowan, the miracle of science that he is. And to set the record straight, no, he does not have new teeth. Also a bonus, Spider Stacy. Yum. But it really was an awesome show, thank you Scott for hipping me to The Pogues.

Shame
So we go to visit a friend of ours who is a firefighter, he invited us to come by the station. We went out to the trucks, one was his, the other a team that was sharing the station at the moment. We put on the gear, took pictures, Max climbed into the truck. Then Max said he needed to use the bathroom so we all went in. When we were finishing up, a call came in. Scott poked his head out of the bathroom and our friend said it wasn't his truck but the other one. I said "Um....our camera is on that truck"...!!!
We stupidly set it down on the other truck then got distracted with the potty break. We did retrieve everything out of the street but it's toast.

The Same
Our last day in Austin, we stopped by Helen's Casa Alde, our favorite family owned restaurant in downtown Buda. Run by 88 year old Helen and her sons Rene and Ernie. When we left two years ago, Ernie had just been diagnosed with cancer. We were heart broken to hear he lost his battle on Valentine's Day of this year. The last time we saw him was our last day in Buda, the day we closed on our house and headed up to Edmond. When we went to pay he said "no charge". We sure miss that place, both kids were born into Helen's, we took every visitor there. We went at least once a week for their awesome breakfast tacos. Seemed fitting we went there on our last day of this trip. We got our usual, their two signature breakfast tacos. Scott got "The Fattie" (potatoes, eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese) and I got "The Same" (potatoes, beans, bacon, cheese). I challenge you to find better breakfast tacos then the ones they serve at Helen's.

Magnets for Charity

I have donated the proceeds of these heart magnets in the past whenever there was a need. I have decided to make it an on-going project. Every quarter a different charity will benefit. This quarter the proceeds will go to Spirit Jump.

These magnets make perfect thank you gifts for teachers or friends and great customer appreciation gifts, so your purchase will be two gifts in one. Thanks for your support.
